Turkish President Erdogan Arrives in Pakistan for Strategic Talks

ISLAMABAD: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is set to arrive in Islamabad today for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials, and business leaders, according to the Foreign Office.

A key highlight of the visit will be the 7th Session of the Pakistan-Turkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC), which President Erdogan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will co-chair. The session is expected to conclude with the signing of a Joint Declaration and multiple agreements/MoUs aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation.

President Erdogan will also meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari to discuss strengthening Pakistan-Turkiye ties. Additionally, he will address the Pakistan-Turkiye Business and Investment Forum, engaging with leading investors and business leaders from both nations.

The HLSCC is the highest decision-making platform for Pakistan-Turkiye relations, guiding strategic collaboration in trade, investment, banking, energy, defense, technology, and education. The last session was held in Islamabad on February 13-14, 2020.

The visit is expected to further solidify the historic fraternal ties between Pakistan and Turkiye while fostering deeper economic and strategic partnerships.
